In August 2026, TYPA Centre is organizing PRESSFEST, a printmaking festival in Tartu, where the aim is to introduce the world of printing to local residents and visitors. We’ll be hosting a variety of workshops and diverse events in the city centre and around Aparaaditehas. There’s something new for everyone to discover whether you’re a printing enthusiast or have never encountered it before.
We are pleased to announce that TYPA will host the PRESSFEST printmaking festival for the first time this August, where we will be stepping out of the museum and reaching a wider audience with events in central Tartu.
We’ll kick off the three-day festival on Friday in downtown Tartu with exciting printmaking workshops, and after an exploratory journey, you can make your way to TYPA for the the festival’s opening event and the opening of the exhibition at the TYPA Gallery as part of Gallery Night.
On Saturday, we invite vendors to participate in a print fair, see how a beautiful mural is created, and try their hand at both printmaking and paper art workshops with artists such as Drew Matott, Vitor Pascale, and Pavel Rotts. The day concludes with a Scrap Night – recycling art party, where the focus is on creative fun!
Sunday’s events start at TYPA Centre with tours and exciting demonstrations. We’ll wrap up the festival in the city center, where we’ll offer fun activities especially for the little ones.
The festival takes place on the last weekend of August, and it’s a great opportunity to combine several exciting experiences in the neighborhood and visit Gallery Night, the Aparaaditehas, and the Ajuokse alternative art festival. A weekend full of fun guaranteed!
The detailed program can be found here!
The festival is made possible by the City of Tartu.
