On the 7th of February we invite you to see a typesetting demo at TYPA, after which we’ll kickstart our print-movie night series!

First up: “Bristol: Set in Print”, a documentary by TYPAs director Charlotte Biszewski

As part of the Tartu Art Week, you’re invited for a typesetting demo and we’ll also introduce related catalogs from the Arnold Everaus collection. You can also try out letterpress printing on your own and take with you the self-made print fresh off the print press!

Schedule 07.02

  • 6:00pm Typesetting demo and presentation of catalogues
  • 6:45pm Charlotte Biszewski’s “Bristol: Set in Print” (introduction by the author, length 45min)

*The film is in English, without Estonian subtitles.

Participation is free!

“Bristol: Set in Print” brings together different printmaking professionals from Bristol, UK who give insight into various printing machines, taking us through the journey of these machines that were once active at the forefront of technological advances but now remain preserved passively as part of museum collections.

Charlotte Biszewski is currently the director of TYPA centre and is leading an exciting array of innovative actions and initiatives, seeking to combine digital technology with the tactile and traditional world of print. She has studied multidisciplinary graphics in Great Britain and defended her doctorate in digital and experimental graphics at the Academy of Arts in Wrocław. She was awarded a Grotowski scholarship for the best doctoral thesis.
