We’ll kick off our series of workshop sessions with a cyanotype workshop on September 27th. Although World Cyanotype Day is actually on 26 September, we’ll be celebrating it the following day as well. Cyanotype or sunprinting is one of the oldest photographic processes, used in the 19th century to produce the first photographic book illustrations. In the workshop, we will develop dried plants, drawings and photographic negatives onto paper. Weather permitting, we will develop our prints and photographs in the sunshine at the Kastani community garden behind TYPA.

An introductory linocut workshop is scheduled for October 4th. We will cut a linocut printing plate, which we will then use to make a few prints on our museum’s oldest printing press. The workshop is ideal for those who are interested in linocut but have not yet had the chance to try it.
(To prepare, it is good to come with a plan, we recommend finding an image for inspiration.
NB! The image must be black and white, gradients cannot be printed with linocut.)

Every year, during our autumn workshop series, we also demonstrate a new workshop that TYPA has just started offering. This autumn, this will be a simple accordion-fold notebook workshop on September 11th. In the workshop, we will make a notebook containing a single long strip of paper folded into a single signature. This kind of notebook is perfect for a sketchbook as it does not contain any gaps between folded pages.

In our final workshop on October 18th, we’ll be making handmade paper. We’ll use paper pulp made from recycled paper and fabric to make our own paper. If you’d like, you can also decorate it with dried flowers, pieces of paper and glitter.
