Scrap Night vol.8: PAPER WEAVING
Big thanks to everybody who participated in the pride month edition of scrap night, it was a pleasure to see all of your joyful, queer creativity!
Our next event will take place on Tuesday, 8th of July, at the usual time 5:30 PM. For this evening, we want to propose… paper weaving!
TYPA is doing lots and lots of paper cutting on daily basis, mostly using big shears and guillotines. Every millimeter matters in producing our stationery, and as a byproduct of this, we are left with long, thin strips of colorful paper. We thought that a good way of reusing those might be thinking of them as threads and trying to intertwine them with each other – a technique called paper weaving. We will be waiting for you with examples of patterns that you can try out, but most of all – as always – we will be looking forward to seeing how you approach this kind of scrap materials!
The events are our voluntary project, carried out by TYPA’s ESC volunteer Asia and education manager Karoliina. The aim of this is to reduce the leftover scrap waste we have at TYPA.
Due to the rising prices of snacks there will be a symbolic fee of 1 euro so everybody could have a sweet treat to keep up the mood.
No registration is required. And, as always, it’s completely fine to also come make more traditional collages or zines if you prefer this over mosaics; we are definitely not running out of scraps.
The first rule of Scrap Club is to have fun and be yourself ❤
