You are welcome to join us for a four-day photo album course! All participants make a photo album of 15 pages from scratch (you also get to make the paper yourself!). Throughout the process, you will be encouraged to discuss the significance of the pre-selected, family-themed photographs and share your family history and stories related to them. The photos can be old or recent, and do not necessarily have to consist of people; for instance, some pictures of places associated with the family can be included too.
Participants have to bring around 16-20 photos (12×15 cm or smaller).
When: June 26, July 3, 10, 17 at 10-12.30
Where: TYPA centre, Kastani 48f, Tartu
Language: English
Target group: students, researchers, volunteers – anyone who can speak English
Skills to achieve: paper making and book binding
Price: €60; €40 for students
Sessions will be led artist-in-residence Charlie Hawksfield, volunteer Charlotte Ferguson and TYPA’s bookbinding specialist Pauline Rummel.
To book a seat in the workshop, please email us at typa@typa.ee on June 23 the latest.
The workshops are part of the primary research TYPA’s volunteer Juhi Valia is conducting for her Master’s thesis – she is interested in finding out if long-term, creative reminiscence activities in museums can help improve the participants’ mental well-being. Your consent to non-participant observation methods, questionnaires, in-depth interviews and focus group discussions during these research interventions will be asked for, and at no point will your personal details be shared with anyone other than the museum staff and participants of the workshop.
