On the 30th November at 6pm Semioculus exhibition “IMPRINT” will open at TYPA gallery.

Semioculus’ first international group exhibition “IMPRINT” is focused entirely on collage (not just the paper kind!) and print art. Collage can be many things: a dialogue between the body & the subconscious, a form of creative meditation, a way of reinterpreting the past and present, and, most importantly, it’s just something that’s plain fun to make. Print art too comes in many different guises and invites just as much creative freedom. Not only that, but the two media very frequently overlap. A more perfect pair is hard to imagine!

Semioculus is an independent art zine & international art community established in Tartu in 2017. Our aim is to showcase surreal and dark visual art in its many different forms. Over the years we’ve had the pleasure of featuring artists working in a wide variety of artistic media, but there are two in particular that have always been just a little bit closer to our heart than others: collage & print art.

Our aim with this exhibition is to showcase the wonderfully wide variety of styles to be found within the worlds of collage and print art, and to introduce the audience to a side of these media that they perhaps weren’t familiar with before. To do so we’ve put together a lineup of amazing artists from all over America and Europe, each with their own spin on and approach towards the medium: fabric collages, thermochromatic prints, etchings, paper collage, cyanotypes, mixed media experiments, it’s all here!

Embrace the surreal, and welcome to the world of Semioculus.

Exhibition opening on 30.11.2023 at 6PM in TYPA Gallery (Kastani 48f).

Exhibition stays up until 30.12.2023. TYPA gallery is open Wed-Sun 12PM – 6PM.

Visiting the exhibition is free.
