Exhibition “Ex libris ad libris”
Within years, ex libris has fallen out of the mainstream and to the hands of hobbyists. Which is why we wish to revive this tradition and bring ex libris back into peoples’ home libraries to encourage them to cherish the physical media they own!
On Thurday, 17th April, at 6pm, we are opening a new exhibition, “Ex libris ad libris” in Balcony gallery. The exhibition will feature prints from the second half of the 20th century — the peak of Estonian ex libris, all from our museum collections!
Latin for “from the books” or “from the library,” Ex Libris refers to decorative or printed labels placed inside books to show ownership. Each ex libris is packed full of personality and little details about the owner’s lives: whether they’re an artist, a sportsman, a fisherman, a forest hiker… They are as diverse as humans can be! What would your ex libris look like?
Entrance from door no. 7 from Aparaaditehas’ courtyard. It’s located right above Aparaat restaurant.
The exhibition is open until June 1st, from Wed-Sun, 12-6pm.
