We are hosting now and for two weeks six artists from Ireland : Michelle Boyle, Kim Doherty, Sue Morris, Fergal O’Mahony, Jackie O’Neil and Mark Plawlor. For all of them, it’s their first time in Estonia. They are now exploring the new technics they have learned in the Printing Museum and the Paper Museum.
At the end of their residence, they will present their works in an small exhibition, “Out of Sorts,” in Loomemajanduskeskus from 13th to 24 of August. The opening of the exhibition is Wednesday 13th of august at 18:00 in the stairs gallery of Loomemajanduskeskus (Kalevi 13).
Michelle Boyle
Michelle Boyle is an Irish based visual artist working predominantly in drawing and paint. She has undertaken various art studies in The Slade School of Art London, St Ives Cornwall and The National College of Art and Design, Dublin.
She has an academic background in Cultural Anthropology (BA) and Landscape Archaeology/ Architecture (MA) which informs here interest in humankind cross culturally and through time.
Her present work in progress– ‘Incidental Icons’ explores identity and marginality particularly in conflict areas of the world. She is using the residency in Estonia to develop other ways of developing this work in print and paper. She recently represented Ireland as The UNESCO Biennial in Andorra which addressed the theme of the Visual Arts in Intercultural Dialogue.
She has exhibited her work in Ireland, The UK, Italy and Finland and with an upcoming show in Cyprus later this year.

Kim Doherty
Kim Doherty, Artist Facilitator, BA Hons Visual Communication, D.I.T. Mountjoy Square.
Inspiring the artist in you, Kim is a visual artist who also facilitates art workshops in the community for all ages.
Collaborated with Erki Kasemet in a residency in County Cavan, Ireland with three other irish artists. Exhibits work with Rianta Art, Cavan. Recently completed facilitation on Re-Imaging Communities Ballyjamesduf for Arts Council of Northern Ireland as well as environmental Schools Art Project for Cavan Tidy Towns and Town Council. Kim has also completed Principles of Art Therapy and will continue with masters in art therapy in new academic year.

Mark Lawlor
Mark Lawlor did an M.Phil in creative writing at Trinity College Dublin in 2005. Since then he has moved into the visual arts. Published writer, short stories, poems, articles, plays, published in Ireland and New York.
Married and moved to Sheffield and started voluntary work, three times a week in St. Wilfrid’s Centre for the homeless.
In 2006 started with Neil Woodall, (Mentor) five years in printmaking. Tim Rose (Mentor) in Life Drawing and Oil painting from 2007.
From 2010 was published in THE MOTH, an international arts magazine: prints, drawings, oils.
Wolves are becoming a feature in his practice. They are coming down from the mountains.
Sue Morris
Sue Morris is a graduate of the Royal College of Art, London and has lived in Ireland since the early 90’s.
Her cross-disciplinary practice utilises drawing, print-making, text, photography, sound and installation. Her work explores notions of the real and the imagined- the known and the unknown.
She has exhibited widely n Ireland and Internationally most recently in Vienna as part of the Cultural Programme for Ireland’s Presidency of the EU 2013 and in the Crescent arts centre Belfast, Northern Ireland 2014.

Fergal O’Mahony
Fergal O’Mahony lives and works in Dublin city, Ireland. His practice is divided between his studio on Newmarket Square and the Black Church Print Studio, Temple Bar. His work is mostly realised through the media of print, drawing and sculpture.
He studied fine art at the Dublin Institute of Technology, receiving his B.A. in 2011. He has exhibited in Ireland and the United Kingdom, notably his first solo show at Avenue Road Gallery, Dublin, Pallas Projects, Dublin, and also in Hay on Wye, Wales, during the Hay Festival, an international literature and arts festival.

Jackie O’Neill
Jackie O’Neill graduated in 2009 with an honors degree in Textile Design from Galway Mayo Institute of technology. Shortly after graduating she exhibited at the New Designers show in The Design Centre London, the Knit & Stitch show in the RDS Dublin & successfully ran an the exhibition “Whimsical Nature” with fellow Graduate Aideen Lynch in Cavan Library.
Jackie resided in London for three years. In this time she did design internships for Topman and edgy east London fashion label Nuerotica. Her print designs appeared in the Topshops oxford street as part of Neuroticas A/W 2010 collection.
In 2012 she decided to move away from fashion and return home to focus on textile art and illustration, the result is “Dotti Was A Deer”, a limited edition collection of lighthearted and colourful fabric and paper prints suitable for children and adults alike. Jackie is influenced by both traditional and contemporary illustration particularly Arthur Rackham, Beatrix Potter and Yoko Fushusho. Inspiration is drawn from animals, nature, doodling, fairytales, folklore & vintage markets. Her technique combines hand drawn illustration, computer aided design, collage and embroidery.
