Specialising in Digital printing, Aleksandra Kretova is studying Media Engineering at Metropolia University in Espoo. In paralell, she is also interested in more traditional methods of printing and paper craft.
“Crafting is more than just a hobby to me. I am very passionate about working with paper and creating things with my hands.“
Having knowledge of handmade paper goods, she knows book blinding, and hand printing to subblimate them. From this base she decided to lunch her own small handmade brand called Paper Plane Stationery (http://www.etsy.com/shop/paperplanestationery). The main focus is handmade paper goods from sustainable materials such as reused and recycled paper with minimalist designs and geometric shapes.
Aleksandra arrived in February enjoying the possibility to reuse paper and our old machines in paper goods production. She plans to learn some of the traditional printing techniques, such as letterpress, screen printing. Then apply those technologies in her craft. A workshop about bookbinding and printing will take place at the end of her residency. In addition a notebook exhibition and why not a craft fair.
