Thank you for your interest in helping us with PRESSFEST 2026! We kindly ask you to read the description and fill the registration form, so that we can get in touch with you and find the best way for us to work together!
What is it all about?
PRESSFEST is the first festival in Estonia dedicated entirely to printmaking and paper art. Our goal is to bring printing outside from the museums, archives or art schools and onto the streets! We want to invite people to play with different printmaking techniques and get curious about the history behind them. The festival takes place from 28.08-30.08 and is packed with different events. To make it all actually happen, we will need your help!
You can check the full festival schedule here: https://typa.ee/en/pressfest-en/
PRESSFEST is a new initiative of TYPA – Letterpress and Paper Art Centre established in Tartu in 2010, as an attempt to preserve the printmaking heritage of the Baltics. TYPA is a non-profit association, and it started as an entirely volunteer-run project. Today, we still greatly rely on volunteer’s work and our main motivation is to share the passion for printmaking and print history. We’d be more than happy to share it with you!
You can read more about TYPA here: https://typa.ee/en/typa-centre/history-and-objectives/
What do we expect?
As a volunteer, you will be expected to contribute approximately 4h per day – the festival is happening on the 28th, 29th and 30th of August. Specific times will be agreed upon based on the availability of the volunteer. However, once we make the schedule, we will ask you to be punctual.
Additionally, we’ll ask you to participate in a couple of meetings outside of the festival dates: a “get to know each other” evening on Monday 24th of August (with pizza and T-shirts printing!), a pre-festival meeting on Thursday 27th of August and a post-festival summary meeting, date to be announced.
We are looking for people who are reliable, communicative and motivated. A degree of flexibility and creativity would also be helpful. Willingness to learn new things and ability to work in a team matters to us much more than previous volunteering experience!
The registration is open for everyone above the age of 16. Volunteers younger than 18 must provide parental consent in the form of written word complete with a signature (can be digital or on paper).
What will you do?
The festival activities vary, and so will the volunteer tasks. We need help with things such as:
- assistance in conducting workshops (preparing materials, guiding participants)
- setting up and taking down the market stands (carrying tables, communicating with vendors)
- taking care of guest artists
- documenting the events
- giving information about the festival activities
- transporting equipment and materials
- …and possibly more!
NB! This does not mean that every volunteer will do all of the things listed above. You can tell us what tasks suit you more than others and we’ll do our best to adapt!
What are the additional volunteer’s benefits?
We hope that the experience itself will be valuable for you – you’ll get to see from the inside how cultural events are organised and learn a lot about different printmaking techniques, all of it in a passionate and welcoming environment!
However, the other volunteer’s benefits include:
- gift pack from the TYPA store
- TYPA museum tour + participating in a creative workshop post-festival (date and topic to be decided with the volunteers!)
- coffee and snacks for each day of volunteering
- screen-printing workshop and pizza during the first team meeting
If you have any questions regarding the volunteering conditions, please don’t hesitate to contact Joanna Bartonowicz, the PRESSFEST volunteers coordinator, at joanna@typa.ee
