The pieces in “Milky Way Home” are painted using paper pulp, merging paper and painting, surface and form. The soft, fibrous edges of the pulp blur at the seams, allowing images to intertwine and grow into each other.
Figures emerge as ethereal, fragmented patches of color, drifting without direction or destination through snowscapes, over rolling waves, and beneath vast galaxies. They hover between the pictorial and the symbolic, gradually dissolving into the boundless expanse of their surroundings.
Emma Harris was born in 2002 in Galway, Ireland. She has spent the last year at TYPA, where the works in this show were made. This Autumn she will begin her Master’s in Fine Arts at the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
