Find the activity that is most interesting for you!

TYPA Environmental and Sustainability Principles

At TYPA, we are committed to operating responsibly by reducing our environmental impact and contributing to a more sustainable cultural and community environment. Sustainability is integrated into our daily operations, exhibitions, educational programmes, and public events.

Environmental Responsibility

We comply with all applicable environmental legislation and use resources—including energy, water, and materials—responsibly. We prioritise reuse, repair, and recycling, while working to reduce both physical waste and digital waste. Whenever possible, we choose environmentally responsible products, materials, and services.

A Sustainable Workplace

We foster a healthy and supportive working environment and actively involve staff and volunteers in achieving our sustainability goals. Through continuous learning, knowledge sharing, and professional development, we encourage environmentally responsible working practices across the organisation.

Exhibitions and Education

We design exhibitions and programmes with longevity and resource efficiency in mind. We prioritise reusable materials, and the continued use of existing exhibition elements wherever possible. Our educational programmes make use of recycled and reusable materials whenever feasible and promote environmentally conscious, creative practices.

We value accessibility, community participation, and meaningful dialogue around cultural heritage. Our aim is to ensure that our activities contribute to both environmental and social sustainability.

Sustainable Events

We organise events with the smallest possible environmental footprint. We prioritise reusable solutions, provide waste sorting, reduce energy consumption, and encourage visitors to travel by public transport, bicycle, or on foot. Wherever possible, we avoid single-use products and minimise the use of printed materials.

Continuous Improvement

TYPA believes that cultural organisations can lead by example through responsible resource use, community engagement, and the promotion of sustainable creative practices.

Maintaining the old printing presses is not easy – they need warmth and light, tender love and care and a lot of oil. We offer both private persons as well as businesses the unique opportunity to support the maintaining and preserving the historical heritage of printing, adopting some of the machines in our collection.
