My name is Amira Aranda and I am an artist.

I was born on April 15, 1983, in Mexico. I have a Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts and a Masters Degree in Art History from the Autonomous University on Morelos (UAEM). On 2005 I attended an exchange program at the Akademie Vytvarnich Umeni in Prague.

My work has been shown on several exhibitions in Mexico as well as abroad. It has been published in magazines such as Inventio, Replicante and Tierra Adentro. I have also experience in self publishing as well as collaborations with Publishing Houses such as “Textofilia Ediciones”, “C´est un livre Proyecto Editorial”, “Svarti Ediciones” and “Acá las Letras”.

On 2014 I received the award “Biblioteca de los Autores” by the Festival for Artist´s books and small editions, ILDE, Barcelona.

On 2017 I designed the image for the film Festival Cinema Planeta.

I have been a resident artist in the extinct Culture Factory Polymer in Tallin, Estonian Print and Paper Museum in Tartu, Antiguo Colegio Jesuita in Mexico, Keramik Werk in Zurich and Sím Residency in Reykjavík.

I am currently working as an artist and a lecturer in the Art Faculty of UAEM and in Centro Morelense de las Artes, Cuernavaca, Mexico

During my time at the Residency in Tartu I intend to keep a journey book about the month I’m there. Also I am very interested in making 2 artists books inspired of the city landscape and anecdotes during the winter using the Paper workshop and some of the priting machines.
