Alina Taalman is a filmmaker and artist based in North Carolina. Her work spans from documentary essay film to scientific mapping. She holds degrees in Geography, and experimental and documentary art.
Her 2015 film “Quiet Title” explores the nature of her childhood haunted house, and in a recent solo show, the “Apollo Series,” she used satellite data to create images from energy outside the visible spectrum.
Alina has Estonian ancestry on both sides of her family, and while In Tartu, she will be continuing to work with these ideas of family history and remembered landscapes, using 16mm film and cartographic techniques to get to know the Estonian environment.
