On Saturday, December 2 from 19:00-21:00, please join us at Tartu Kunstimaja for an open studio showing some work-in-progress film and photography from Alina Taalman. Alina has been filming across mainland Estonia and Saaremaa, mostly with a 16mm Bolex camera, tracing family lines and wandering off their course.
There will be drinks, snacks and projections!
Alina is an editor at heart, and incorporates archival and found materials with her own camera footage and writing in her work. During this residency, she has been discovering her own family history through its related landscapes. Though this will not be a finished film screening, selections shown at the open house will offer a first glimpse of this new project, born from Estonian travels and local explorations in Tartu.
Alina Taalman is in Tartu as part of the Tartu municipal residency program. The Tartu Artist in Residence program is financed by the City of Tartu and implemented by the Estonian Printing and Paper Museum. For more information about the project and future artists, visit residency.tartuensis.com
