Paper scissors or shears work on the same mechanism as simple ordinary scissors. With a pair of scissors, you can cut one or, at best, a couple of sheets at a time. Whereas, a paper guillotine is used to cut larger amounts of paper. These ribbon shears (model D 110, serial number 24309) were made in Leipzig, Germany, at the August Fomm factory in 1938. They were donated to TYPA by the printing company Greif and are in daily use.

This machine is currently adopted. Thanks to the foster parent and supporter, Mari-Liis Leisi!

If you want to support TYPA’s preservation and promotion activities, you can do so by  adopting one of our machines. The adopted machine will still remain in place in TYPA, but will receive a gold label with the name of a good supporter and free admission to the museum.
