\"\"<\/a>Dimitry Tetin is a teacher, artist, designer based in the Hudson River Valley in New York State. He is currently an Assistant Professor in Graphic Design at the State University of New York, New Paltz. Formerly, he was a Critic in the Department of Illustration at Rhode Island School of Design and an Adjunct Faculty member at Parsons the New School for Design where he taught in the Communication Design Program.<\/p>\n

Dimitry holds a BA from the University of Chicago where he studied Eastern and Central European Literature, Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. An interest in semiotics and critical theory led him to study typography and visual communication at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where he received his BFA in 2006. After that he worked for the Chicago Tribune, where for three years he focused on editorial design, illustration and art direction for Tribune\u2019s wide portfolio of feature sections. In 2009 he moved to the East Coast of the United States and received his\u00a0Master of Fine Arts degree from the Rhode Island School of Design.\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

During the month-long residency Dimitry will be working on sketches for a portrait of Tartu’s past and present through moving images and typographic forms. He is particularly excited to explore the form and history of the wood and metal type collection at Studio Tartuensis. He also hopes to take as many walks through the city of Tartu as possible; long days and short nights giving him time to absorb as much of the city’s history and contemporary life as his waking hours allow.
