In February, Ukrainian artist-in-residence Irena Lawruszko will be presenting her works at the TYPA Gallery. Graphic artist and painter Irena has produced four etchings during her residency in Tartu, which, together with another six previously completed works, explore old and dilapidated architecture as seen through her eyes. The objective of the exhibition is to display the emotions evoked by such derelict buildings. Seemingly limited architectural forms begin to take on different characters, depending on the context in which they are presented. They become silent witnesses of the passage of time and forgotten signs of the story of time.<\/p>\n\n
The exhibition can be visited during TYPA\u2019s opening hours: Mon\u2013Fri 12\u201318. The exhibition will be open until February 28.<\/p>\n\n
Irena Lawruszko was born in 1992 in Ternopil, Ukraine. In 2012, she began her studies at the Department of Graphic Arts at Maria Curie-Sk\u0142odowska University, and from 2013 to 2017 served as the chairwoman of the department. She graduated with a Bachelor\u2019s degree in fine arts, specialising in painting. In 2017, she enrolled in Master\u2019s studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. Irena has held several solo exhibitions in Lublin and Kopyczy\u0144ce in Ukraine. Additionally, she has participated in international collective exhibitions in Ireland, Japan, Romania, Belarus, France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Argentina, Sicily, Sweden, Bulgaria, and Ukraine.
