{"id":12161,"date":"2022-12-07T09:45:45","date_gmt":"2022-12-07T09:45:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/typa.ee\/exhibition\/dot-line-wave\/"},"modified":"2024-07-14T11:01:45","modified_gmt":"2024-07-14T11:01:45","slug":"dot-line-wave","status":"publish","type":"exhibition","link":"https:\/\/typa.ee\/en\/exhibition\/dot-line-wave\/","title":{"rendered":"DOT, LINE, WAVE"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>&#8220;DOT, LINE, WAVE&#8221; by Julia Syrzistie is a playful exploration of the different visual choices for adding diacritical and punctuation marks to typefaces.&#13;\n<div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s\">The exhibition aims to draw attention to the often overlooked (and relatively small in size) marks as the lead role of the show, by presenting a series of prints where the marks have been enlarged.&#13;\n<div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s\">Julia Syrzistie is a designer and printmaker, working predominantly in letterpress. She is interested in exploring metal type, wood type, and other letterpress tools both through processes, as well as the themes within her work through design-focused research and visual experimentation.&#13;\n&#13;\n<\/div>&#13;\n<div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s\">Throughout the 10 months spent in Tartu, she has been exploring TYPA\u2019s archival type collection. Being particularly interested in diacritical marks found in Estonian alphabet, she was drawn to the dots, lines and waves of \u00d6\u2019s and \u00d5\u2019s in wood type \u2013 often a hand-carved addition to a finished typeface based on the printmaker\u2019s need for Estonian characters.&#13;\n&#13;\n<\/div>&#13;\n<div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s\">The exhibition will open at TYPA gallery on the 9th of December at 6pm, offering visitors a chance to get a glimpse of Syrzistie&#8217;s expedition into the world of type.<\/div>&#13;\n<div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s\">&#13;\nExhibition is free and open for the visitors on during museum opening times: Wed-Sun 12pm-6pm<\/div>&#13;\n<\/div><\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":12159,"menu_order":0,"template":"","format":"standard","categories":[16],"class_list":["post-12161","exhibition","type-exhibition","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-typa-gallery"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.5 -
