Embassy of Latvia in Estonia kindly invites you to attend the opening of the Estonian language edition of Aleksandrs Gr\u012bns novel \u201cBlizzard of Souls\u201d \u2014 “Hingetuisk” (\u201cDv\u0113se\u013cu putenis\u201d).
This epic historical novel is written in 1934, translated by Contra and published by publishing house Grenader.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event will take place in Tartu 11 November 2025 18.00 \u2013 21.00 at TYPA Centre. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The programme:
\u2022 Opening remarks by H.E.Mrs Krist\u012bne Na\u0161eniece, Ambassador of Latvia
\u2022 Remarks by Mr. Peeter Tali, Chairman of the Estonia-Latvia Parliamentary Friendship Group of the Riigikogu
\u2022 Remarks by Contra, poet and translator (in Estonian, with interpretation into the English)
\u2022 Lecture \u201cLatvian Riflemen in the First World War: History, Memory, Significance\u201d by Mg. hist. J\u0101nis Toma\u0161evskis, Historian, Latvian War Museum.
\u2022 Refreshments<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Blizzard of Souls is a semi-autobiographical war story where the main protagonist is a young Latvian schoolboy who enlists in a Latvian Riflemen battalion and participates in battles of the First World War and Latvian War of Independence. Aleksandrs Gr\u012bns had written the novel about the birth and maturity of Latvian nation and country- how the independence idea is born, matures and comes true. At the same time the story carries a timeless and powerful anti-war message.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event is organized in the framework of the celebrations of the 107th anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic of Latvia and supported by \u201cLatvian Literature\u201d, Latvian War Museum, Riigikogu (Estonia-Latvia Parliamentary Friendship Group), publishing house \u201cGrenader\u201d.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":16865,"template":"","categories":[14],"class_list":["post-16866","event","type-event","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-typa-centre"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"\nBook opening event: Aleksandrs Gr\u012bns novel \u201cBlizzard of Souls\u201d -
